of Maryland, in conformity with the requirements of
Article 2, section 3, of the Constitution of Maryland.

Which was read.

Mr. Wirt presented the following:

BY THE SENATE,

January 6, 1892.

Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We have received your message proposing that the
Senate shall meet in the Hall of the House of Dele-
gates at 2. 10 P. M., to-day, when the Speaker of the
House of Delegates shall preside, and, in the presence
of both Houses, open the returns of election for Gov-
ernor of the State of Maryland, in conformity with
the requirements of the Constitution, and we concur
therein.

Secretary.

Which was read, assented to, and sent to the House
of Delegates.

The hour of 2. 10 P. M having arrived the committee
appointed by the House appeared at the bar of the
Senate to conduct the Senators to the Hall of the
House of Delegates for the purpose of opening the
returns of the election of Governor of Maryland, as
had been previously agreed upon, when the following
proceedings were had:

JOINT CONVENTION.

The Speaker, as chairman of the Joint Convention,
opened the returns for the election of Governor, and
they were read by the Clerk.

It was found that the Hon. Frank Brown had re-
ceived 108, 539 votes, Wm. J. Vannort 78, 388 votes,
and Edwin Higgins 5, 120 votes.

Whereupon the Speaker, as chairman of the Joint
Convention, declared that the Hon. Frank Brown
having received a majority of all the votes cast was
