CHAPTER 166.
|

AN ACT to provide a sum of money to pay M.
|
 
|
Bannon and Henry Aisquith for professional ser-
|
 
|
vices rendered the State.
|
 
|
Whereas, by act of eighteen hundred and seventy-
six, chapter three hundred and seventy, all owners
|
 
|
of tobacco stored in the State tobacco warehouses
|

numbers one and two, which were burned on the

seventh of February eighteen hundred and seventy-
|
 
|
five, who claimed that the State was answerable for
|
 
|
the injury to their property in said warehouses, were
|
 
|
authorized to bring suit in the Circuit Court for
|

Anne Arundel county, and many of them did bring
|
 
|
suit in said court.
|
 
|
And whereas, under the authority of said act, at
|
 
|
the request of the Comptroller and by direction of
|

quith accumulated the evidence and prepared said
|
 
|
cases for trial, expending much labor and time
|
 
|
therein; therefore,
|
 
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly
|

each suit under said act, to which the said M. Bannon

directed to issue his warrant upon the Treasurer for

the payment to M. Bannon the sum of twenty-five

dollars and for payment to Henry Aisquith the sum
of twenty-five dollars for compensation to said parties
for each case so certified by said clerk as aforesaid ;
|
 
|
and the sum of fourteen hundred dollars, or so much
|
 
|
thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated
|
 
|
for said purposes.

|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That this act shall take
