Mr. Sams submitted the following message:
BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,
January 6th, 1892.
Gentlemen of the Senate:
We have received your message notifying this House
of the organization of the Senate, and requesting the
appointment of a Joint Committee to wait upon the
Governor and inform him that the General Assembly
is now prepared to receive any communications he
may desire to make, and this House being organized by
the election of Hon. Murray Vandiver as Speaker, and
Carlton Shafer as Chief Clerk, we respectfully concur.
We have appointed on the part of the House, Messrs.
Sams, Collins and Bowie, of Prince George's.

CARLTON SHAFER,
Chief Clerk.
Which was read, assented to and sent to the Senate.
Mr. Sams, Chairman of the committee appointed on
the part of the House to wait upon the Governor,
informing him of the organization of the General
Assembly, reported that they had discharged that
duty, and his Excellency requests us to say that he
will communicate with the General Assembly through
the Secretary of State.
Report accepted and committee discharged.
The Secretary of the Senate appeared and delivered
the following message:
BY THE SENATE,
January 6th, 1892.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :
We have received your message proposing that the
Senate shall meet in the Hall of the House of Dele-
gates at '2.10 P. M., to-day, when the Speaker of the
House of Delegates shall preside, and in the presence
of both Houses open the returns of election for
Governor of the State of Maryland, in conformity
with the requirements of the Constitution, and we
concur therein.
