"Sec 2. And it shall be the duty of the Commis-
missioners of Crisfield, for five years from and after
the passage of this Act, to expand upon the improve-
ment of the territory added by this Act, all the taxes
collected out of the property in the new territory
hereby annexed to the said town."
Which were severally read and adopted.
Said bill, as amended, was then read a second time,
and ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.
House bill entitled an Act to authorize and em-
power the Board of Public Works to build and equip
three new sailing vessels for the State Fishery Force
and to sell three old sloops now in use and also pro-
vide local guard boats.
Mr. Garner submitted the following proposed amend-
ments :
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.
Strike out all after the words "A Bill" down to the
end of section 2, and insert as follows :
"Entitled an Act to authorize and empower the
Board of Public Works to build and equip five new
sailing vessels for the use of the State Fishery Force
and to sell three oil sloops now used by said Force,
and also to provide for certain local guard boats dur-
ing the oyster season.
"Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Board of Public Works he and
they are hereby authoiized to purchase or build five
new sailing vessels and to name the same ; three of
said vessels to take the place of three old sloops now
in said service, one of said vessels to be stationed at
Herring Bay, Anne Arundel county, and the other at
the mouth of St Mary's River, St. Mary's county ;
also to provide for two small sailing vessels to serve
during the oyster season, one to be stationed at the
mouth of Manokin River and one at Somerset and
Hooper's Straits,
"Sec. 2. And be it enacred That the said Board of
Public Works be and they are hereby authorized to
sell the three old sloops to be displaced by the pro-
visions of this bill either at public or private sale, and
to turn over the proceeds of such sale to the Comp-
troller to be placed to the credit of the oyster fund."
