The Secretary of the Senate appeared and delivered
the following message:
Senate bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of
money to aid in the purchase of free books for the
scholars of the public schools of the State of Maryland..
Which was read a first time, and referred to the
Committee on Ways and Means.
Also, returned,
House bill entitled an Act to confirm Ordinance No.
23, approved April 8th, 1891, of the ordinances of the
Mavor and City Council of Baltimore, entitled an
ordinance to authorize the construction of city pas-
senger railway tracks by the North Avenue Railway
Company of Baltimore city on North avenue, from
McCollousch street, to Guilford avenue, and thence on
Guilford avenue and North street to Lexington street.
Also, returned,
House bill entitled an Act to regulate the county
printing and publishing in Baltimore county, and to
provide for having the sa n e done by contract.
Endorsed: "Considered, vote by which bill passed,
re-considered and re-committed to a Select Committee..
"Reported favorably from a Select Committee, with
amendments amendments adopted, considered, and
passed by yeas and nays with proposed amendment:"
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
I section 1, line 6, by striking out the word "shall,"
and insert the word "may" in lien thereof.
