Somerset county, to increase the license of walking
pedlers in this State.

Mr. Hayward presented a petition from J. Luckey
and 36 other citizens of Harford county, in favor of
free books in the Public Schools of this State.
Which was read, and referred to the Committee on
Education.
Mr. Michaels presented a petition of W. H. Ball and
55 other citizens of Garrett county, asking the passage
of a law prohibiting certain corporations from paying
its employees otherwise than legal tender of the Uni-
ted States.
Which was read, and referred to the Committee on
Corporations.
Mr. Strong presented a petition from R. B. Wilson
and 27 other citizens of Kent county, praying that the
five acre statute, now in force, may be made by special
Act conveyable, so as to increase oyster culture, also
to make such oyster lands taken up taxable, same to
go to the school fund.
Which was read, and referred to the Committee on
the Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries.
Mr. Garner presented a petition from Joseph F.
Robrecht and 57 other citizens of St. Mary's county,
praying that an oyster police sloop may be provided
to protect the waters of St. George's and St. Mary's
Rivers.

Ways and Means.
Mr. Gaver presented a petition from the Trustees
and Official Board of the Methodist Episcopal Church
of Frederick city, for power and authority to sell and
convey certain real estate in Frederick city.
Which was read, and referred to the Committee on
Judiciary.
Also, a petition from H. C. Taylor and other citi-
zens of Emmitsburg District, in Frederick county, for
the passage of a fence law.
