to do by the proper officer of said Maryland National
Guard, fail or refuse to pay or deliver to said officer
any such moneys or property in his possession or for
which the said member was chargeable or accountable,
shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction
thereof before a court of competent jurisdiction, shall
be fined a sum not exceeding five hundred dollars, or
imprisoned in jail not exceeding one year, or both
fine and imprisonment, as aforesaid, in the discretion
of the court."
Which was adopted.
Said bill as amended, was then read a second time.
Mr. McSherry, from the Committee on Printing, re-
ported favorably, the following order,
With proposed amendment:
Ordered, That the State Printer be and is hereby
authorized and directed to print and bind, for the use
of the S;ate, ten thousand copies of the report pre-
pared by the Commi-sioner of the Land Office on
Maryland's Resources, in accordance with section 7, of
Article 79, of the Code oi Public General Laws.
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Strike out all after the word "ordered," and insert
the following: "That the State Printer be and he is
hereby authorized and directed to print and bind, for
the use of the State, 10,000 copies of a report pre-
pared by the Commissioner of the Land Office, op
Maryland's Resources, and the cost of the same to We
$1,600, or so much thereof as may be necessary; and
it is further ordered, that the State Printer be and he
is hereby authorized and directed, to furnish each
Board of County Commissioners of this State with 100
copies of said report, to be disposed of or circulated
by them under the direction of the County Granges
and County Alliances of the several counties, and all
expenses to be paid by the Commissioners of said sev-
eral counties ; that each member of the General As-
sembly be furnished with 10 copies of said report; that
every newspaper in the State be furnished with two
copies; that 100 copies be furnished to the leading
journals of the country; that 500 copies be furnish ed to
the Mayor of the City of Baltimore; that 500 copies
be furnished to the Secretary of State; that 1,000
