On motion of Mr. Grove, of Cecil, it was
Ordered, That Mr. Beeks be excused for last night's
and to day's sessions, on account of sickness.
On motion of Mr. Combs, it was
Ordered, That Mr. Garner be excused from attend-
ing the sessions of yesterday and to-day, on account
of sickness.
On motion of Mr. Wallen, it was
Ordered, That Mr. Godwin be excused from attend-
ing to-day's session, on account of important business.
On motion of Mr. Carter, it was
Ordered, That the Judiciary Committee be excused
from attending to night's session of the House.
On motion of Mr. Wilkinson, it was
Ordered, That at to-night's session the House shall
consider only local bills on second and third reading
files, to which there will be no objection.
On motion of Mr. Hill, it was
Ordered, That the Committee on Internal Improve-
ments, Railroads and Canals, ascertain and report to
this House at as early a day as is reasonably practi-
cable, the total cost of the repairs made upon the
Chesapeake and Ohio Canal by the trustees of the
preferred bondholders of 1844, from the time the
Canal was delivered over to them by the Circuit
Court of Washington county; the total tonnage of the
Canal during the year 1891; a detailed statement of
the total receipts and expenditures foi the same
period, in all accounts; the number of new boats uow
being built; the number and condition of the boats
now in the Canal fit for use; the cost of operating the
Canal during the year 1891; the rate of toils and trans-
portations fixed for 1892, and the present condition of
the Canal, and what is the present status of the State's
interest in the Canal, and for the purpose of enabling
the Committee to procure the information and make
their report, they may be empowered to summon and
examine witnesses, if they deem it necessary.
LEAVES TO INTRODUCE BILLS.
On motion of Mr. Hayward,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Ways and
Means to introduce a bill for the relief of the sureties
