On motidn of Mr. Garrett,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Ways and
Means to introduce a bill entitled an Act to provide
for the payment by the State for certain debts con-
tracted by the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company
during the years 1887, 1888, 1889 and part of 1890, for
labor and raw material, and for the assignment of the
same to the State.
On motion of Mr. Leonard,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Ways and
Means to introduce a bill entitled an Act to create a
free scholarships the in Easton Manual Training
School.
On motion of Mr. Anderson,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Ways and
Means to introduce a bill entitled an Act to refund
to John H. Miles, late Collector of State Taxes for the
Third Collection District of Somerset county, cer-
tain moneys paid by him into the Treasury of the
State.
On motion of Mr. Fitzgerald,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Ways and
Means to introduce a bill entitled an Act to provide
for the payment of expenses incurred for the removal
and support of insane or lunatic convicts sent by the
State Lunacy Commission from the Maryland Peni-
tentiary to Insane Asylums in this State.
Also,
Leave was granted to the Committee on the Ju-
dicary to introduce a bill entitled an Act to restrict
the appointment of officials in the Public Institutions of
the State of Maryland, to legal residents of the State
of Maryland.
On motion of Mr. Brashears,
Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judi-
ciary to introduce a bill entitled an Act to repeal sec-
tions 54 and 158, of Article 33, of the Code of Public
General Laws, title "Elections," as enacted by the
Act of 1890, chapter 538.
On motion of Mr. Orrick,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Ways and
Means to introduce a bill entitled an Act to provide
for the assessment and collection of a tax upon dis-
tilled spirits.
