THURSDAY, February 18th, 1892.
The House met at 12 M., and was opened with
prayer by the Rev. Mr. Day.
Present at the call of the roll the following mem-
bers :

PETITIONS, MEMORIALS AND OTHER PAPERS.
The Speaker laid before the House the following:
Whereas, business of all kinds on the Susquehanna
and Tidewater Canal has absolutely ceased since the
first day of April, 1890, to the great injury of the
people along the line of said canal and of the city of
Havre de Grace.
Therefore, be it ordered, that the Attorney-General
be and he is hereby requested to examine the lease
from said Susquehanna and Tidewater Canal Com-
pany to the Philadelphia and Reading Railroad Con-
pany, and to report to this House whether by the
terms of said lease the rights and privileges are
reserved to said railroad company to abandon the use
of said canal at its pleasure, and if he shall ascertain
that no such right and privilege are reserved, whether
any steps can be taken to compel the resumption of
transportation upon said canaj by said Philadelphia
and Reading Railroad Company.
