On motion of Mr. Griffith, it was
Ordered, That Mr. Canby be excused from to-day's
session, on account of sickness.
On motion of Mr. Fox, it was
Ordered, That Mr. Walz be excused from attending
to-day's session, on account of important business.
On motion of Mr. Monmonier, it was
Ordered, That Senate Bill No 139, entitled an Act to
repeal section one hundred and eighty-eight to two
hundred and seventeen inclusive, of Article three, of
the Code of Public Local Laws, title "Baltimore
County," sub-title "Roads," and to re-enact the fol-
lowing in lieu thereof, be printed.
On motion of Mr. Hill, it was
Ordered, That the congratulations of the House be
extended the Hon. James G. Berret, upon the anni-
versary of his 77th birthday, that occurs this day, with
the hope that many more years may be spared him,
and that his usefulness may continue without any in-
terruption of the ills to which flesh is heir.
On motion of Mr. Hamilton, it was
Ordered, That the Carpenter of the House be and
he is hereby instructed to prepare a suitable bulletin
board and securely place the same in a prominent
position in the Rotunda, and that hereafter the chair-
men of the several committees of the House shall post
notices of time and place of meetings of the several
committees on said bulletin board instead of giving
said notice upon the floor of the House.
On motion of Mr. Carter, it was
Ordered, That when this House meets on Monday
evening, February 15th, it shall immediately after the
reading of the Journal, take up for consideration local
bills on the third reading file of the House, and im-
mediately alter such file is cleared of said bills, it
shall consider the local bills on the second reading
file.
Mr. Hutchins submitted the following order, viz;
Ordered, That the Chairman of the Committee on
Claims issue his certificate to John Johnson for the
