AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
A t end of resolution add the following :
"And be it further resolved, that in dealing with
the question of tariff reform, this House has entire
confidence in the judgment and ability of the Senators
and Representatives in Congress for Maryland, whose
views are known to be in accord with the true Demo-
cratic sentiment of the country."

The Secretary of the Senate appeared and delivered
the following message:
Senate Joint Resolution requesting and urging the
Senators and Representatives of the State of Mary-
land, in the Congress of the United States, to use their
best efforts to secure the passage of Senate bill No,
67, entitled a "Bill to transfer the Revenue Marine
Service from the Treasury Department of the United
States to the Naval Department,"
