assessment bill the taxation of mortgages.
Mr. Berret submitted the following proposed amend-
ment :
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Strike out all after the word "hereby" and insert
the following : "instructed to enquire into the expe-
diency of the taxation of mortgages."
Mr. Brashears submitted the following proposed
amendment to the proposed amendment:
Strike out all after the word "ordered."
Which motion prevailed.
Said order, as amended, was then adopted.
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES.
Mr. Gallagher, from the Committee on Inspections,
reported favorably,
House bill entitled an Act to repeal and re-enact
with amendments section 12, of Article 58, of the Code
of Public General Laws, title " Inspections, sub-title
"Tobacco," as repealed and re-enacted by the Acts of
1890, chapter 262.
Which was read a first time.
Mr. Joyce, from the Committee on Corporations
reported favorably,
House bill entitled an Act to incorporate Elkton
Electric Light and Power Company.
Which was read a first time.
Mr. Thompson, from Committee on Chesapeake Bay
and its Tributaries, reported favorably,
Senate bill entitled an Act to prohibit the use of
explosives in the waters of the Chesapeake Bay and
its Tributaries, as a means of taking or catching fish.
Which was read a second time.
Mr. Field, from Committee on Militia, reported
favorably,
Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal and re-enact
with amendments, section 6, of Article 65, of the Code
of Public General Laws of Maryland, title "Militia.'
Which was read a second time.
