JOINT RESOLUTIONS.
Mr. Bevard submitted a Joint Resolution authoriz-
ing the Governor of the State of Maryland to receive
and receipt for moneys due said State from the Gen-
eral Government of the United States on account of
repayment of direct tax.
Which was read a first time, ordered engrossed for
a second reading and referred to Committee on Federal
relations.

The Secretary of the Senate appeared and delivered
the following message:
BY THE SENATE,
January 12th, 1892.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :
We respectfully propose, with the concurrence of
your Honorable Body, that all bills, leaves to intro-
duce bills to sanction bequests, devises, sales, gifts or
conveyances to religious objects be referred to the
Committee on Judicial Proceedings of the respective
Houses, and that said committee acting jointly, be, and
they are hereby, instructed to report on March 17th, a
general bill embracing all such bills and leaves, ex-
cept where there is a special reason for more speedy
