On motion of Mr. Green, it was
Ordered, That Mr. Anderson be excused from at-
tendance to-day, on'account of important business,
On motion of Mr. Smith, it was
Ordered, That Mr Garrott be excused from to-day's
session, on account of important business.
Mr. Brashears submitted the following order, viz :
Ordered, That the Speaker be and he is hereby au-
thorized to appoint an Assistant Page, to assist the
Pages of this House in keeping in shape the files of
the members, and to perform such other duties as may
be required of him by the Chief Clerk.
Which was read, find passed by yeas and nays, as
follows:
AFFIRMATIVE.—Messrs. Speaker, Garner, Strong,
Brashears, Donaldson, Sappington, of Anne Arundel,
Lane, Maddox, Orrick, Monmonier, Schlaffer, Collins,
Wooters, Leonard, Sterling, Grove, of Cecil, Hill,

Grove, o. Frederick, Bevard, Thompson, Fuld, Bren-
nan, Fox, Carter, Field, Bowie, of Baltimore city,
O'Conor, Gallagher, Gill, Sams, Carr, Cornthwaite,
Joyce, Smith, of Washington, Fockler, Shafer, Grif-
fith, Haines, Seliman, Berrer, Leeds, Tracey, Haslup,
Moore—50.
NEGATIVE —Wilson, Green, Meredith, Miles, Frank-
lin, Wilkinson, Deen, Hosken, Sr., Stottlemyer, Elle-
good, Bittinger—11.
Mr. Collins submitted the following order, viz:
Ordered, That there be printed of the report of
the Maryland Agricultural College and Experiment
Station, 3000 copies, and of the portion relating to the
Experiment Station, 7000 copies additional, bound
separately in paper; that these reports be delivered to
the president of the said college, and that ten (10)
copies of the entire report and fifty (50) copies of the
Experiment Station report, be sent to the State
Librarian, and the president of said college shall dis-
tribute ten (10) copies of the college report, and fifty
(50) copies of the Experiment Station Report, as may
be directed by each member of this House and of the
Senate, free of expense to such members; provided
