The House met at 8 P. M., and was opened with
prayer by the Rev. Mr. Nicols.

PETITIONS, MEMORIALS AND OTHER PAPERS.
Mr. Smith, of Dorchester, presented a petition from
Geo. H. White and 120 other citizens oi Dorchester
county, in favor of the law relating to the culling of
oysters.
Which was read and referred to Committee on
Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries.
Mr. Miles presented a petition of Zora H. Brins-
field and 147 other citizens of Dorchester county, for
the repeal of the law providing for the appointment
of County School Commissioners of said county by
the Judges of the Circuit Court, and suggesting that
they be made elective.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on
Education.
Mr. Sams presented a petition from Jos. G. Johnson
asking for the passage of an Act donating a certain
piece of land belonging to the State, until recently
occupied and used as a location for the cattle scales,
to the city of Baltimore to be used as a park.
Which was read, and referred to the Baltimore City
Delegation.
