other Acts or parts of Acts inconsistent herewith, so
far as they relate to Carroll county.
Endorsed: "Read the third time, and passed by
yeas and nays, with proposed amendment:"
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
In section 6, strike out the words "shall not be en-
titled to charge any fees," and insert in lieu thereof
the following :
"Shall be entitled to a fee of twenty five cents for
each reception of each of said prisoners each and every
day, said fees to be paid by the County Commission-
ers of Carroll county; and the Sheriff shall retain cus-
tody and control of said prisoners while out at labor,
and shall see that the work to be done by them is per-
formed according to the requirements of said Mayor
and Common Council or their authorized officers, and
for such custody and control of said prisoners and
supervision of the work by them, the Sheriff shall be
allowed the sum of two dollars and fifty cents per day
for the first five of said prisoners or any smaller num-
ber thereof, and the sum of twenty-five cents per day
for each prisoner additional to the first five so put at
labor during the continuance of said labor."
Which was adopted.
Said bill, as amended, was then passed by yeas and
nays, as follows:

Arundel, Ireland, Lane, Orrick, Cole, Hamilton, Jr.,
Monmonier, Collins, Wooters, Leonard, Green, Ander-
son, Meredith, Smith, of Dorchester, Grove, of Cecil,
Bowie, of Prince George's, Hill, Bryan, Wallen, God-
win, Franklin, Wilkinson, Stearns, Deen, Johnson,
Thompson, Walz, Brennan, Fox, Carter, Bowie, of
Baltimore city, O'Conor, Gallagher, Sams, Frincke,
Carr, Joyce, Shafer, Laird, Griffith, Haines, Sellman,
Tracey, Laws, Moore, Michaels—50.
NEGATIVE—-None.
Also,
House bill entitled an Act to authorize the Cumber-
land Valley Railroad Company to connect with the
Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, at or near Powell's
Bend, where its railroad bridge crosses said Canal and
Potomac River.
