ORDER OF THE DAY,
The hour of 1 P. M. having arrived, the House con-
sidered the order of the day, being the following order
submitted by Mr. Collins on the 27th inst., viz :
Ordered, That the Ways and Means Committee be
and they are hereby instructed to include in their
assessment bill the taxation of mortgages.
Mr. Fitzgerald moved to postpone indefinitely.
Mr. Miles moved as a substitute to postpone consid-
eration till Friday, Feb. 5, at 1 P. M.
Which motion prevailed.
On motion of Mr. Field,
House bill (Printed No. 3), entitled an Act to amend
Article 28, of the Code of Public General Laws title
"Corporations," (Order of the Day for to-day at 1 P.
M,,) was postponed and made the Order of the Day
for Tuesday, February 3rd, at 12.30 P. M.
Mr. Laird moved that the order introduced on the
28th, relative to stamps and stationery to the officers
of the House, and made the Order of the Day for
Wednesday, February 3rd, at 1 P. M., be referred to
the Committee on Claims, with instruction to report
said order with the cost of same on that day.
Which motion prevailed.

THE SECOND ORDER OF THE DAY.
Was then considered, being,
House bill entitled an Act to repeal section 122, of
Article 4, of the Public Local Laws, title "City of
Baltimore," sub-title "Buildings," and to re-enact
the same with amendments.
Was read a third time, and passed by yeas and
nays, as follows :
