Mr. Smith, of Washington county, reported favor-
ably from Select Committee,
Senate bill entitled an Act to prohibit fast driving
or riding on or over the Highway Bridge across the
Potomac river at Hancock, Maryland, of the Hancock
Bridge Company of Washington county.
Which was read a second time.

ORDER OF THE DAY.
The House at 1 P. M. considered the Order of the
Day, being
House bill entitled an Act to add new sections to
Article 23, of the Code of Public General Laws, "Cor-
porations," sub-title ''Telegraph Companies," to come
in after section 232, and to be designated sections 232
A, 232 B, 232 C, 232 D, 232 E, to regulate the rental
and use of telephones in the cities, towns and villages
in the State of Maryland.
Mr. Carter moved, sustained by fifteen members,
including the Speaker, that the Sergeant-at-Arms be
sent for absent members, and compel their attendance
upon the session of the House.
The roll was called and the following members
were found to be absent:
Messrs. Ireland, Schlaffer, Sterling, Grove, of Cecil,
Beeks, Wallen, Hayman, Green, Grove, of Frederick,
Hayward, Stearns, Deen, Fox, Gill, Carr, Garrott,
Canby and Moore.
Whereupon the Speaker directed the Chief Clerk
to issue the following warrant:
The Sergeant-at-Arms of the
House of Delegates of Maryland,
Is authorized by this House to bring and notify all
absent members of the House to immediately appear
in their seats in this Body.
