CHAPTER 698.


AN ACT to add an additional section to the Code of Public


Local Laws, article 9,' title "Charles County," sub-title


"Roads and Bridges," to follow after section 160. and to


be designated, as sections 160 A and 160 B to license per-


sons engaged in hauling heavy timbers for commercial


purposes over the public roads of said county.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of


Maryland, That an additional section be inserted in article

9 of the Code of Public Local Laws, title " Charles County,"


sub-title "Roads and Bridges," to follow after section 160,


and to be designated as sections 160 A and 160 B, which


shall read as follow :


SEC. 160 A. It shall be lawful for the County Commis-

sioners of Charles County in their discretion to require all

haul
timber

persons who may engage in hauling heavy timber (not cord


wood) in Charles Couuty for commercial purposes, between


the first day of December of any year and the first day of


May following, to pay a license not exceeding the sum of


five dollars per month and if the said license shall be im-


posed all money derived therefrom shall be applied to the


county road fund.


SEC. 160 B. If the county commissioners should impose

such a license any person neglecting or refusing to procure


the same shall be subject to a fine of not less than five dol-


lars nor more than one hundred dollars in the discretion of


the court trying the case, said fine to be collected as other


fines and forfeitures.


SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect

from the date of its passage.
