as hereinafter provided by the general vote of the county
|
|
|
|
from each of said commissioner disticts, who shall serve for
|
|
|
|
six years from the date of his election, and shall be ineli-
|
|
|
|
gible for six years thereafter a majority of said commission-
|
|
|
|
ers constituting a quorum for the transaction of business.
|
|
|
|
26 A. The said commissioners shall hold their meetings
|

at Leonardtown on the second Tuesday in each and every

month of the year, and oftener if in their judgment the

public interest may require it, and they shall receive as a
|
|
|
|
compensation for their services the sum of three dollars for

every meeting at which they attend ; provided the compen-
|
|

|
sation of any one of said commissioners for any one year
|
|
|
|
shall not exceed the sum of seventy -five dollars.
|
|
|
|
26 B. And be it enacted, That one of the county commis-
|
|
|
|
sioners in office at the time of the passing of this act shall
|
|
|
|
hold said office for the period of six years from the date of
|

his election, that one other of said present board of com-

|
missioners shall hold his office for the period of four years
|
|
|
|
from the date of his election and the remaining three com-
|
|
|
|
missioners of the present board shall hold their office for

the period of two years from the date of their election that
|
|
|
|
the selection of the commissioners to serve for the aforesaid
|
|
|
|
term shall be made by lot in the manner to be determined
|
|
|
|
by said commissioners ; provided that those commissioners
|
|
|
|
who will serve for the period of four years, and six years as
|
.
|
|
|
above provided shall not both be selected from the same
|
|
|
|
commissioner district.
|
|
|
|
26 C. And be it enacted, That at the next general election
|
|
|
|
to be held in this State after the passage of this act, and at
|
|
|
|
every general election thereafter there shall be elected one
|

commissioner who shall be a resident of the commissioner
|
|
|
|
district in said county not represented in said board of
|
|
|
|
county commissioners. It being the intention of this act
|
|
|
|
that each of said commissioners' districts shall have a rep-
|
|
|
|
resentation in said board of county commissioners.
|
|
|
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That all acts and parts of acts
|

inconsistent with the provisions of this act be and the same
|
|
|
|
are hereby repealed.
|
