certificate shall state that any such nomination paper con-


tained the number of signatures requisite to nominate a


candidate for the office for which such person is proposed,


the person therein named shall be entitled to a place on the


official ballot as a candidate for the designated office. If


such certificate shall state that any nomination paper con-


tained any number of signatures less than the number


required to nominate a candidate for the office for which


such person is proposed, then if there shall have been filed


within the proper time with the Secretary of State a nomi-


nation paper nominating the person or persons whose names


and addresses have been certified as directed in the first


part of this section for the same office as that set forth in


the said certificate of the said board of supervisors, and the


said nomination paper filed with the Secretary of State shall


contain, such a number of signatures as will, when added


to the number certified as aforesaid by the board of super-


visors make the number required to nominate for such office


the person or persons for whom there shall be signatures


such required number of, by adding as aforesaid, shall be


entitled to a place on the official ballot as a candidate for


such office.


SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect

Effective.

from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 627.


AN ACT to repeal section 34 A and 34 B of article fifty-six


of the Code of Public General Laws of the State of Mary-


land, title " Licenses," as enacted at the January session


of 1890, chapter 159, and to re-enact the same with


amendments.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of


Maryland, That sections 34 A and 34 B of article 56 of the

Amend-
ment.

Code of Public General Laws of the State of Maryland,


title " Licenses," as enacted at the January session of 1890,


chapter 159, be and the same are hereby repealed and


re-enacted so as to read' as follows;


34 A. Every person who proposes to conduct the busiuess


of shipping master or shipping broker in Baltimore City, to
