SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect

CHAPTER 544.


AN ACT to amend and re-enact section one of chapter one


hundred of the acts of the General Assembly of Mary-


land, passed at its December session eighteen hundred


and forty, relating to the incorporation of Chosen Friends


Lodge of number thirty-four, of the order of Independ-


ent Odd Fellows, and to grant additional powers to said


corporation.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of


Maryland, That the officers and members of Chosen Friends

Odd Fellows and their successors, be and they are hereby

declared to be a community corporation body politic for-


ever by the name, style and title of Chosen Friends Lodge,


number thirty-four, of the Independent Order of Odd Fel-


lows and by that name they and their successors shall and


may at all times hereafter be capable in law to have, receive


hold and retain to them and their successors, property, real


personal and mixed also devises and bequests of any person


or persons capable of making the same, and the same at


their pleasure to transfer mortgage or dispose of in such


manner as they may think proper ; provided always that the


said corporation or body politic, shall not at any time


hold or possess property, real, personal or mixed exceeding


in value the sum of thirty thousand dollars ; and provided


further, that all rights acquired by the officers and mem-


bers of Chosen Friends Lodge, of number thirty-four, of


the Order of Independent Odd Fellows under an act of the


General Assembly of Maryland, passed at its December


session eighteen hundred and forty, chapter one hundred,


be and the same are hereby declared to be in full force and


effect.


SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That in order to enable the


said corporation to acquire by purchase, real and personal
