Code of Public Local Laws, title "Anne Arundel County,"


sub-title " Sheriff," as they appear in chapter three hundred


and ninety -five and five hundred and three of the acts of 1890,


be and the same are hereby repealed and re enacted with


amendments, and that a new section, be and the same is


hereby added to said article to follow section 214 A, to be


designated section 214 B, and to read as to said several sec-


tion as follows :


214. The Sheriff of Anne Arundel County shall be allowed

levy annually a sum sufficient for the payment of the same,

214 A. The said sheriff shall keep at the jail a substantial

County," the leaves whereof shall be ruled in parallel col-


umns for the entry of the following particulars, viz ; the full


name of the person received, his color, age, height, day and


hour when received, by whom committed, and whether for a


further hearing, in default of payment of fine and costs, for


the action of the grand jury or under sentence for a definite


time, the day and hour of release and by what authority


released ; also a columu for " Remarks " in which shall be


entered any other particulars ; in case of death of any per-


son confined in said jail, the sheriff shall enter in said record


the cause of death as ascertained by the coroner's jury or


otherwise, the date of such death, together with the time


and place of burial or other disposition of the body of said


deceased ; all commitments to and releases from jail shall be


properly endorsed and filed away by said sheriff, together


with all other official papers or matters connected with said


jail as part of the records thereof and shall permanently


remain thereat, and be turned over by each successive sheriff


to his successor, and as compensation to said sheriff for


making and keeping such record book, he shall receive one


dollar, for each prisoner so received, registered and released,


which said amount shall be levied by the county commis-


sioners at their annual levy in each year, and paid by them


quarterly, upon said sheriff presenting his vouchers duly


sworn to.
