fair per diem to judges and clerks to be scaled according to


their discretion, according to value of the office, and a full


statement of the amount collected, and also expended with


the manner thereof, shall immediately after the primary


election be published in one or more of the democratic news-


papers of the county. If ballot clerks are used for the


information and instruction of the blind, sick or illiterate,


they shall be selected for their intelligence, honesty and


fairness and shall be sworn not to divulge anything that


comes to their knowledge, while acting in their official


capacity, and to act fairly and impartially in the discharge


of their duties, and the judges of election are empowered to


commission one or more persons to assist the constable in


preserving order at the polls on the day of the election.


SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect

CHAPTER 509.


AN ACT to provide for the assignment and transfer of cer-


tain shares of the capital stock of the Easton National


Bank of Maryland, standing upon the books of said bank


in the name of the Orphans' Court of Caroline County, or


the judges thereof, and certain other shares of the capital


stock of the National Mechanics of Baltimore standing on


the books of said bank in the name of the said Orphans'


Court or the judges thereof, and certain other bank stock


of the Commercial and Farmers' National Bank of Balti-


more, standing on the books of said bank, in the name of


John Boone et al., or of the said Orphans' Court or the


judges thereof, to the " Board of County School Commis-


sioners for Caroline County."


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the -General Assembly of


Maryland, That the Orphans' Court for Caroline County,


Maryland, or the present judges thereof, be, and they hereby
are authorized, empowered and directed to assign and
