AN ACT to repeal section eighty -three of article ten of the


Code of Public Local Laws, title " Dorchester County,"

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of


Maryland, That section eighty-three of article ten, of the

and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted so as to


read as follows :


SEC. 83. For the purpose of furnishing and securing an

construct, and erect water works in the said town, and to


that end to purchase, or condemn land, to sink artesian


wells, to purchase and erect suitable buildings, engines,


machinery, stand pipe, fire plugs and fountains, and to


procure and lay water mains and pipes, to construct reser-


voirs for fire purposes, and to do and furnish all things


necessary and proper, for carrying into effect the purpose


aforesaid, including the employment of such engineers,


mechanics, laborers, and others, as may be required for the


said purpose, and the said water works shall be the property


of the said town, and upon the completion thereof the said


commissioners are authorized, and empowered to change


such water rents or rates for the use of said water, as may


be fair and reasonable against all persons using the same,


and such water rents or rates shall be collected in the same


manner, as other town taxes, and shall be a lien on property


to the same extent, or the commissioners of Cambridge if


deemed more advantageous and desirable, instead of con-


structing and erecting water works, as aforesaid are
