CHAPTER 413.


AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments, an act


entitled "An act to authorize the Mayor and City Council


of Baltimore City to make annual appropriations for the


benefit of the Maryland Industrial School for Girls," now


known as the Female House of Refuge passed at the


January session 1880.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of


Maryland, That chapter 323 of the acts of Assembly passed

repealed and re-enacted to read as follows: That the


Mayor and City Council of Baltimore City are hereby


authorized and empowered to appropriate annually toward


the current expenses of the Female House of Refuge, any


sum or sums of money not exceeding ten thousand dollars


per annum ; and the said mayor and city council are further


authorized and empowered to appropriate for repairs, per-


manent improvements and addition to the building now


occupied and used by said Female House of Refuge, such


additional sum or sums of money as in their judgment shall


from time to time be required for these purposes.


SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect

CHAPTER 414.


AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money to pay the claim of


Eugene E. Grannan, agent of the State of Maryland,


appointed under authority of law to serve requisition upon


theGovernor of Ohio in the case of the State vs. John Yeakle.


WHEREAS, On the first day of September, 1883, Eugene-

to serve and execute a requisition from the Governor of"


Maryland upon the Governor of Ohio, for the rendition of


a fugitive in the case of the State of Maryland vs. John


Yeakle, charged with forgery, under an indictment in the


Criminal Court of Baltimore City; and,


WHEREAS, The said Eugene E. Grannan discharged


fully and faithfully the duties imposed on and required of
