SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That all acts and
parts of acts inconsistent with this act be and the same are
hereby repealed.
SEC. 6. And be it further enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

|
AN ACT to repeal sub-section class one of section fourteen
|
|
|
|
of article twenty-three of the Code of Public General
|
|
|
|
Laws entitled "Corporations," and sub-section three of
|
|
|
|
section forty-two of the same article ; also section forty-
|
|
|
|
seven of the same article and to re-enact the same with
|
|
|
|
amendments.
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS an act was passed by the General Assembly
|
|
|
|
of Maryland at the session of eighteen hundred and ninety
|
|
|
|
which forms chapter three hundred and thirty -nine of the
|
|
|
|
published acts of that session, and which was approved by
|
|
|
|
the Governor on the twenty -ninth day of May in the year
|
|
|
|
eighteen hundred and ninety entitled an act to repeal sub-
|
|
|
|
section class one of section fourteen, of article twenty-three,
|
|
|
|
of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Corpora-
|
|
|
|
tions," and sub-section three, of section forty-two, of the
|
|
|
|
same article ; also section forty-seven of the same article,
|
|
|
|
and to re-enact the same with amendments, and
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS doubts have been expressed whether said act
|
|
|
|
is valid, the same having not been approved by the Gover-
|

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

|
|
|
Maryland, That class one of section fourteen, also sub-
|
|
|
|
section three of section forty-two, and section forty-seven,
|
|
|
|
of article twenty -three of the Code of Public General Laws,
|
|
|
|
be and the same are hereby repealed and re-enacted so as
|
|
|
|
to read as follows:
|
|
|
|
Class 1. For the creation and maintenance of educational,
|
|
|
|
moral, scientific, literary, dramatic, musical, social, benevo-
|
|
|
|
lent or beneficial societies or associations of all description,
|
|
|
|
of religions or charitable societies or associations, fire en-
|
|
|
|
gines and hose companies, and of uniformed volunteer com-
|
|
|
|
panies, of universities, colleges, academies, hospitals or
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
