CHAPTER 191.

|
|
AN ACT to repeal section 153 of article 17 of the Public
|
|
|
|
Local Laws, title "Prince George's County", sub-title
|
|
|
|
" Hyattsville," and to re-enact the same with amendments.
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
|
|
|
|
Maryland, That section 153 of the Public Local Laws, title
|
Repealed
|
|
|
"Prince George's County," sub-title "Hyattsville," be and
|
and
re-enacted.
|
|
|
the same is hereby repealed, and thereupon re-enacted so as
|
|
|
|
to read as follows :
|
|
|
|
153. The male citizens of said town, of the age of twenty -
|
|
|
|
one years and upward having resided therein six months
|

next preceding any election held under the provisions of

Code of Public Local Laws, and who are qualified to vote
|
|
|
|
for members of the General Assembly, shall elect by ballot
|
|
|
|
on the first Monday in May, 1892, at the place in the town
|
|
|
|
designated by the judges of election, five commissioners,
|
|
|
|
who, upon their organization, shall by lot select three of their
|
|
|
|
members to serve for one year and two to serve for two
|
|
|
|
years ; that upon the termination of office of the several
|
|
|
|
classes of commissioners so designated, their successors or
|
|
|
|
the successors of those who by reason of vacancy created by
|
|
|
|
death, refusal to act, disqualification, resignation or re-
|
|
|
|
moval out of the corporation limits shall succeed them, or
|
|
|
|
any of them, shall in like manner and annually on the first
|
|
|
|
Monday in May, and at the place and by the persons here-
|
|
|
|
inbefore designated, be elected to serve for the full period
|
|
|
|
of two years, and until their successors shall be elected and
|
|
|
|
qualified so that at all times, there shall be a board of five
|
|
|
|
commissioners, composed of two classes, with terms expiring
|

in successive years, no person shall be eligible as com-

missioner of the town unless over twenty -five years of age,
|
|
|
|
a.nd a resident within the corporate limits at the time of his
|
|
|
|
election, and for at least one year next preceding the
|
|
|
|
same ; and his term of office shall terminate upon the
|
|
|
|
removal of his residence from the town limits. The passage
|
|
|
|
of this act shall not affect the term of service of the present
|
|
|
|
board of commissioners.
