SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect

CHAPTER 59.


AN ACT to add a new section to article twenty -two of the


Code of Public Local Laws, title "Washington County,"


sub-title "Hagerstown" to follow section one hundred


and seventy one of said article, and to be named section


one hundred and seventy-one A.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of


Maryland, That the following section be, and the same is

hereby added to article twenty-two of the Code of Public

town," to follow section one hundred seventy-one of said


article twenty-two, and to be named section one hundred


and seventy -one A.


SEC. 171 A. The mayor and council shall have and are


hereby vested with full power and authority to grant the use


of the streets, alleys or highways, of the town unto any per-


son or persons, corporation or corporations, for the purpose

of constructing a system of sanitary sewerage in Hagerstown ;

to enter into contract with the same with respect to the

town

construction and operation of such system of sanitary sew-


erage, and to levy taxes in addition to the amount now


authorized by law sufficient to meet any obligation incurred


by said mayor and council under the terms of such contract,


provided that an election to be held on a day designated by


the mayor and council, whereof ten days notice shall be


given by the mayor, a majority of the qualified voters of


Hagerstowu, voting at said election shall ratify and confirm


said contract.


SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That this act shall take effect
