2nd. Be it resolved, That our senators and representatives in

hasten as much as possible the passage of a suitable bill for the


accomplishment of this object, and that a copy hereof be trans-


mitted to them to be laid before the several houses of con-


gress.

Joint resolution requesting the senators and representatives of


this State, in the congress of the United States, to vote for and


urge the passage of the bill now pending in congress, authorizing-


the construction of a bridge across the eastern branch of the Po-


tomac river, at or near the foot of South Capitol street, in the


District of Columbia.


WHEREAS, there is now pending in the congress of the United

States, a bill for the construction of a bridge across the eastern


branch of the Potomac river, at or near the foot of South Cap-


itol street, in the city of Washington, District of Columbia; and


WHEREAS, the construction of such a bridge will be of great.


benefit to a large number of the citizens of this State, by giving

them a more easy and direct route to and from the Capitol of


the Nation, and by thus making more accessible to the city of


Washington a large area of land of citizens of this State; there-


fore,


Be it resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the


senators and representatives of this State, in the congress -of the
