whole by residents of said county from the date of the construc-


tion and completion of said boat, canoe or vessel; that he will not


allow the said boat, canoe or vessel to be used in taking and catch


ing crabs with scrapes, drags, dredges or similar instruments, in


the waters of said county by any person who has not been a bona


fide resident of said county for the term of twelve months next


preceding his using said boat, canoe or vessel for the purpose


aforesaid, nor knowingly permit any person who has not been a


bona fide resident of said county for the time aforesaid, to be em-


ployed upon said boat, canoe or vessel in any capacity in taking


and catching crabs as aforesaid in said waters.


SUB-SEC. 4. Any owner or other person using any boat, canoe


or vessel in taking and catching crabs with scrape, drag, dredge


or similar instrument in the waters of said county, under a license


granted by this act, shall, before using said boat, canoe or vessel


as aforesaid, paint in black figures, upon white canvass, two sets


of numbers corresponding to the number of the license issued for


the use of said boat, canoe or vessel as aforesaid, each figure to be


of the length of eight inches and of proportionate width, and the


figures at least three inches apart : one of said pieces of canvass,


with the number painted thereupon, the owner or person using

upon the starboard side, and near the middle of the largest sail


of said boat, canoe or vessel licensed as aforesaid, and the other


piece of canvass, with the number painted thereupon, upon the


port side, and near the middle of the said largest sail of said boat,


canoe or vessel; these numbers shall be placed in an upright and


conspicuous position upon said sail, and worn at all times during

the crabbing season hereinbefore mentioned, and said numbers

shall not be concealed or defaced, and no other number shall be


used or exposed to view except the true number on said license.


SUB-SEC. 5. The school commissioners of said county shall, be-


fore the fifteenth day of April of each year, furnish to the clerk


of the circuit court for Dorchester county the requisite number


of printed blank licenses, in such form as required by this act,


and take from said clerk a receipt therefor; the said clerk shall


be allowed as a fee for each license issued by him under this act,


the sum of fifty cents, and the residue of said license money shall

be paid by him at the end of each crabbing season to the said


school commissioners for the public schools of said county,


and at the same time the said clerk shall return to the said school


commissioners all of said blank licenses not issued by him, together


with a list of the licenses issued, containing the names of the


owners, the number of the licenses and the names of the boats.


SUB-SEC. 6. It shall he the duty of the State fishery force to


aid in the enforcement of the provisions of this act; the sheriff


and constables of said county, and the officers of the said fishery
