CHAPTER 75.


AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments sections two


hundred and eighty, two hundred and eighty-one, two hundred


and eighty-two, two hundred and eighty-three, two hundred and


eighty-four, two hundred and eighty-five, two hundred and


eighty-six, two hundred and eighty-seven and two hundred and


eighty-eight, of article seventeen, of the Code of Public Local


Laws, title " Prince George's county," sub-title "Roads,"


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,

amendments, so as to read as follows :


280. The county commissioners of Prince George's county shall
divide the county into road districts not exceeding the number of


election districts, for each of which they shall appoint, to hold


office during their pleasure, a supervisor of skill and ability who,


under their direction and approval shall have charge of the repairs


of all roads and bridges in his road district except such roads and

bridges as the county commissioners may deem it advisable to re-


pair by contract, and such supervisor shall give bond in such


penalty and with such security as said commissioners shall fix and


approve, and with such conditions as they may prescribe in regard to
the duties to be performed, the use, proper and safe keeping and


due return of all property placed in his charge, the proper dis-


posal of all moneys coming into his hands for road purposes and


for any and all accounting required by law.


281. Each supervisor appointed under the provisions of the pre-


ceding section shall report to the county commissioners in writ-


ing at their first meeting in the month of April, all repairs in de-


tail necessary to be made on the public roads and bridges of his

road district, with an estimate to the best of his judgment of the


proper and reasonable cost thereof; at each and every other regu-


lar monthly session of the county commissioners he shall in like


manner report to them in respect to the condition of the roads


and bridges under his charge, and any newly required repairs not


in his said April report.


282. The supervisor of each road district is authorized to hire


horses, wagons, carts and ploughs where requisite and necessary,


and to employ able bodied men to work on the repairs of the pub-
