sale shall be divided and paid to the State of Maryland, the city
|
|
|
|
of Baltimore and to the citizens of Maryland and of the United
|
|
|
|
States who have heretofore contributed, or may hereafter con-
|
|
|
|
tribute to the purchase of land for said association or improving
|
|
|
|
the same, or for other uses of said association, in the proportions
|
|
|
|
to the amounts which they shall have severally contributed.
|
|
|
|
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That all parts of the acts to which
|
|
|
Repealed.
|
this is an amendment inconsistent herewith be and the same are
|
|
|
|
hereby repealed.
|
|
|
Effective.
|
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from
|
|
|
|
the date of its passage.
|
|
|
|

CHAPTER 74.
|
|
|
|
AN ACT providing for heating, lighting and making other im-
|
|
|
|
provements in the Maryland penitentiary.
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
|
|
|
|
That the board of directors of the Maryland penitentiary, be and
|
|
|

is hereby authorized and empowered to purchase and have erected
|
|
|
heating.
|
in said penitentiary boilers for the purpose of heating said institu-
|
|
|
|
tion with steam, also to purchase and to place in said penitentiary
|
|
|
|
electric light plant for the purpose of lighting said institution
|
|
|
|
with electricity, and to make such other improvements as said
|
|
|
|
board of directors may deem necessary.
|
|
|
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the sum of eighteen thousand
|
|
|
|
dollars ($18,000,) be and the same is hereby appropriated out of
|
|
|
|
any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated to carry
|
|
|

out the purpose of this act, and the comptroller is hereby au-

priation.

thorized and directed to draw his warrant upon the treasury pay-
able to the order of said board of directors for such sums and at
|
|
|
|
such times as shall be required by the said board of directors for
|
|
|
|
purpose aforesaid; provided the aggregate of the sums so drawn
|
|
|
|
shall not exceed the sum of eighteen thousand dollars.

|
Effective.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from

the date of its passage.
