one thousand dollars of such stock shall have been subscribed for


and paid into the treasury of said corporation, the said corpora-


tion shall be authorized to begin operations and carry on the work


for which it is incorporated.


SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the said corporation shall have


power to purchase or lease for a term of years, any coves or inlets


less than one hundred yards in width at their mouth, from the

owner or owners of the lands bordering on said coves or inlets, and


the same to hold and control for the purposes of propagating,


planting, cultivating and marketing oysters, and shall also have


and enjoy all the rights and privileges set out in article twenty-
three, of the Code of Public General Laws of this State, from sec-

erect dams or locks at the mouth of said coves or inlets to retain


the water therein; provided, however, that such dams or locks


shall not prevent the navigation of said coves or inlets.


SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the said corporation shall own


and possess the oysters planted or grown in such coves and inlets,

of Public General Laws of this State.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from


the date of its passage.
