known as "Pound Nets," either partly above or entirely beneath


the waters of said rivers from the first day of August to the first


day of June next ensuing of each year; provided, however, that


such pound nets shall not extend across any channel, nor shall


they be so placed as in anywise to obstruct the passage of any


vessel or boat engaged in trading in said waters, nor shall any


seine or net be used in that portion of said pound nets that con-


fines the fish, the meshes of which are less than one and a quarter


inches square, nor shall any stake or post be used in placing said


pound nets of a greater diameter than five inches in the largest


part, nor shall such stake or post be permitted to remain in said


waters for a longer period than that prescribed in this Act for


the placing of pound nets; provided, however, that it shall be


lawful to take or catch fish in the manner provided by this sec-


tion in the North East river and its tributaries from Turkey


point to the head of North East river only during the months of


March, April and May of each year.


SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from

CHAPTER 22.


AN ACT to authorize and require the county commissioners of


Garrett county, to publish annually a list of the several amounts


of moneys paid out of the contingent fund of said county, and


to whom and for what purpose such amounts were paid.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,


That the county commissioners of Garrett county, be and they
