other fixtures captured and condemned under the provisions ofr

|
|
|
this act shall immediately be advertised by printed or written
|
|
|
|
handbill, and sold to the highest bidder for cash in ten days.
|

thereafter; and the money arising from said sale and fines, after
|
|
|
to schools
|
deducting the legal costs, shall be paid one-half to the informer,.
|
|
|
|
and the other half to the school fund of said county; and in de-
|
|
|
|
fault of payment of such fine and costs such person or persons
|
|
|
|
so convicted shall be sent to the county jail for not less than ten
|
|
|
|
days, in the discretion of the said justice of the peace; provided,.
|
|
|
|
nothing herein contained shall prevent any person who may feel
|
|
|

aggrieved by the decision of the justice of the peace from appeal-
|
|
|
|
ing to the circuit court, if such appeal is taken and satisfactory
|
|
|
|
bond filed for prosecuting said appeal with the justice of the
|
|
|
|
peace within five days after the fine is imposed, and the boat,
|
|
|
|
guns and other fixtures are condemned.
|
|
|
|
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That any officer of any of the oyster
|
|
|
|
police sloops or steamers either upon view or information derived
|
|
|
|
from any other person of a violation of any of the provisions of
|
|
|
|
this act, shall be and he or they are hereby authorized and em-
|
|
|
|
powered, and it is made his or their duty to arrest and take into
|
|
|

custody such person or persons so as aforesaid offending; with
|
|
|
|
the boat, .guns and other fixtures used in such violation, and
|
|
|
|
carry such offender or offenders with the boat, guns and other
|
|
|
|
fixtures being used, before some justice of the peace of the

|
|
county wherein such offense was committed to be dealt with as
|
|
|
|
provided in this act.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from

CHAPTER 141.
|

|
|
AN ACT to change the name of Turner's creek, in Kent county,
|
|
|
|
to Turner's river.
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted ly the General Assembly of Maryland
That the branch of Sassafras river now known as "Turner's creek,'
|
|
|
|
extending from said river to the steamboart landing at the head
|
|
|

|
of said creek, and upon which a public landing and Janvier's
|
|
|
|
wharf are located, shall hereafter be called and known as "Tur-
|
|
|
|
rer's river."

|
|
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect from

|
