resides within the limits of the said new district,
|

shall continue to exercise all the functions of his
|
|
|
|
office until his successor is duly appointed and qual-
|
|
|
|
ified according to law.
|
|
|
|
SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That at the January
|
|
|
|
session of the General Assembly of Maryland, in the
|
|
|
|
year eighteen hundred and eighty-two, and thence
|
|
|
|
on, as now provided by law, the Governor of Mary-
|
|
|
|
land shall appoint a registrar of voters and two jus-
|
|
|
|
tices of the peace for said new district ; and at their
|
|
|
|
usual time for appointing constables, and as now
|
|
|
|
provided by law, the County Commissioners of Dor-
|
|
|
|
chester county shall, in the year eighteen hundred
|
|
|
|
and eighty, and thence on, appoint two constables
|
|
|
|
for said new district, and a collector for the same
|
|
|
|
shall be appointed as soon as may be convenient
|

after the passage of this act, as provided by the local

stablc.

law of Dorchester county; and the county commis-
|
|
|
|
sioners of said county shall cause the assessable
|
|
|
|
property of the said districts numbers two, three,
|
|
|
|
eleven and seven, embraced within the limits of the
|
|
|
|
aaid new district, to be transferred to the latter;
|
|
|
|
and provided that the vacancy in the number of
|
|
|
|
justices of the peace in district number seven, or
|
|
|
|
Cambridge district, caused by the transfer of ons of
|
|
|
|
their number to Linkwood district, shall not here-
|
|
|
|
after be filled, but the number of justices in Cam-
|
|
|
|
bridge shall hereafter be three, and not four, as
|
|
|
|
heretofore provided.
|
|
|
|
SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That this act shall
