AN ACT to authorize the Treasurer of the State of
|
|
|
|
Maryland to accept scrip of the Philadelphia and
|
|
|
|
Beading Railroad Company in settlement of in-
|
|
|
|
terest due to the first day of July, eighteen hun-
|
|
|
|
dred and seventy-nine, upon the mortgages of the
|
|
|
|
Susquehanna Canal Company and the Tide Water
|
|
|
|
Canal Company to the State of Maryland, and
|
|
|
|
also to receive the checks of the Treasurer of the
|
|
|
|
said Philadelphia and Reading Railroad Company
|
|
|
|
for nine thousand dollars, in payment of the in-
|
|
|
|
terest due on the said scrip up to the first day of
|
|
|
|
July, eighteen hundred and seventy-nine.
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
|
|
|
|
bly of Maryland, That the Treasurer of the State
|
|
|
|
of Maryland be and he is hereby authorized to ac-
|
|
|
|
cept the sum of one hundred and fifty thousand dol-
|
|
|
|
lars in the Philadelphia and Reading debenture
|
|
|
|
guarantee scrip of the Philadelphia and Reading
|
|
|
|
Railroad Company, each scrip being of the par value
|
|
|
|
of one thousand dollars, payable on the first day of
|
|
|
|
July, eighteen hundred and eighty-two, with inter-
|
|
|
|
est coupons attached, the first payable the first day
|

of January, eighteen hundred and eighty, in settle-
|

ment of interest due up to the first day of July,
|
accept.

|
|
eighteen hundred and seventy-nine, upon the rnort-
|
|
|
|
gages of the Susquehanna Canal Company and the
|
|
|
|
Tide Water Canal Company to the State ; and the
|
|
|
|
Treasurer of the State is also authorized to receive
|
|
|
|
the checks of the Treasurer of the said Philadelphia
|
|
|
|
and Reading Railroad Company for nine thousand
|
|
|
|
dollars, in payment of the interest due on said scrip
|
|
|
|
up to the first day of July, eighteen hundred and
|
|
|
|
seventy-nine.

|
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
