CHAPTER 434.
|

|
|
AN ACT to repeal an act passed at January ses-
|
|
|
|
sion, eighteen hundred and seventy-two, chapter
|
|
|
|
one hundred and seventy-four, entitled " An act
|
|
|
|
to incorporate the town of Union Bridge,
|
|
|
|
in Carroll county," and to re-enact the same with
|
|
|
|
amendments and additional sections.
|

|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted ty the General Assem-
|
|
|
|
bly of Maryland, That the act passed at January
|
|
|

acted in lieu.

incorporate the town of Union Bridge, in Carroll
|
|
|
|
county," be and the same is hereby repealed and
|
|
|
|
the following sections enacted in lieu thereof:
|
|
|
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the inhabitants
|
|
|
|
of the town of Union Bridge, in Carroll county,
|
|
|
|
are a body corporate by the name of " the Mayor
|
|
|
|
and Common Council of the town of Union Bridge,"
|
|
|
|
and by that name shall be able in law to sue and be
|
|
|

sued, plead and be impleaded in any court of law or
|
|
|
|
in equity, and shall have perpetual succession, and
|
|
|
|
may piirchase and hold real and personal and mixed
|
|
|
|
property, or dispose of the same for the use and
|
|
|
|
benefit of the said town, and may have and use a
|
|
|
|
common seal, which may be altered at pleasure.
|
|
|
|
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the corporate
|
|
|
|
bounds of said town shall be as laid down and de-
|
|
|
|
scribed on the plot of said town of Union Bridge,
|
|
|
|
recorded in office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court
|
|
|
|
for Carroll county; provided, however, that for all
|
|
|

sanitary and police purposes, the mayor and com-
|
|
|
bounds.

mon council shall have and may exercise full au-
|
|
|
|
thority and control for one half mile in every direc-
|
|
|
|
tion beyond the bounds aforesaid, and they may
|
|
|
|
have the same authority and control for the same
|
|
|
|
distance, as above, beyond the bounds of any lands
|
|
|
|
taken into the said corporation under this charter.
