CHAPTER 399.


AN ACT authorizing the County Commissioners of


Carroll county to adjust and settle the accounts


of Jacob Holmes, deceased, late collector of coun-


ty taxes of Carroll county.


SECTION 1. Be it enacted ly the General Assembly


of Maryland, That the County Commissioners of


Carroll county be and they are hereby authorized


to adjust the accounts of Jacob Holmes, deceased,


late collector of county taxes in said county, for the


years eighteen hundred and seventy and eighteen


hundred and seventy-one ; and if in their discretion


they deem it just and proper so to do, they are au-

said Jacob Holmes, deceased, the co-obligor of Reu-


ben Stem, Lawrence Zepp and Edwin K. Gernand


of the judgment recorded against him in the Circuit


Court for Carroll county by the State of Maryland,


use of the County Commissioners of Carroll county,


on the thirteenth day of May, eighteen hundred and
seventy-eight, for the sum of thirty-three thousand


three hundred and thirty-one dollars, the penalty in


the bond in the declaration in said cause to be re-


leased on the payment of five thousand dollars.
