CHAPTER 395.
|

|
|

AN ACT to encourage manufactures in the city
|
|
|
|
|
of Cumberland.
|
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted ty the General Assembly
|
|
|
|
|
of Maryland, That the Mayor and City Council of
Cumberland be and they are hereby empowered to
|
|
|
|
|
levy, for the years eighteen hundred and eighty and
|
|
|
|
|
eighteen hundred and eighty-one, at the time of
|
|
|
|
|
making the annual levy for general purposes in said
|
|
|
|

city, upon all the taxable property therein, a sum not
to exceed fifteen hundred dollars in each of said
|
|
|
|

years, for the purpose of securing the introduction

ses.

and establishment of manufacturing enterprises in

said city ; said sum or sums, or so much thereof as
|
|
|
|
|
may be found necessary, to be levied to and expend-

ed by and under the direction of the committee on
|
|
|
|
|
manufactures, now existing under and by virtue of
|
|
|
|
|
the appointment of the mayor of said city, to wit :
|
|
|
|
|
Richard D. Johnson, Henry W. Hoffman, Frederick
|
|
|
|
|
Mertens, Samuel Sonnerborn and Theodore Luman.
|
|
|
|
Effective.
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
|
|
|
|
|
take effect from the date of its passage.
|
|
|
|
|

AN ACT to change the name of " Beantown Sta.

|
|
|
|
tion," in Charles county, to " Waldorf."
|
|
|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
|
|
|
|
|
of Maryland, That the name of the village now
|
|
|
|
