keeping the prisoners, and for the necessary fuel
aforesaid; but it shall not be hereafter lawful for the

sheriff of Washington .county to mate or collect any

charge for the receiving in or releasing from the jail

in said county any prisoners.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take

effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 304.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments

chapter twenty of the acts passed at the January

session, eighteen hundred and seventy-two, en-

titled " An act to make valid the sale and

transfer by the Union Bridge Turnpike Company

to the Liberty, Johnsville and Pipe Creek Turn-

pike Road Company, of all that part of the road

of said Union Bridge Turnpike Company from

Union Bridge, Carroll county, Maryland, to Daniel

Wolf's, in Frederick county," and to vest the

franchises of said Union Bridge Turnpike Com-

pany, or said part of said Turnpike road, in the

Liberty, Johnsville Pipe Creek Turnpike Eoad

Company, to enlarge the powers of and to au-

thorize the issuing of bonds by the Liberty and

Pipe Creek Turnpike Eoad Company.
