CHAPTER 255.
|
|
|
|
AN ACT to repeal section third of the acts of Jan-
|
|
|
|
uary session, eighteen hundred and seventy-eight.
|
|
|
|
chapter two hundred and sixty-two, entitled " An
|
|
|
|
act to appropriate the sum of five hundred (500)
|
|
|
|
dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary,
|
|
|
|
for the purchase of a lot in Havre-de-Grace and
|
|
|
|
the erection thereon of scales suitable for the
|
|
|
|
weighing of hay, straw, cattle and other commod-
|
|
|
|
ities," and to re-enact the same with amendments.

|
|
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
|
|
|
|
of Maryland, That section three of the acts of Jan-
|
|
|
|
uary session, eighteen hundred and seventy-eight,
|
|
|
|
chapter two hundred and sixty-two, entitled "An
|
|
|

re-enacted.

act to appropriate the sum of five hundred (500) dol-
lars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, for the
|
|
|
|
purchase of a lot in Havre-de-Grace, and the erec-
|
|
|
|
tion thereon of scales suitable for the weighing of
|
|
|
|
hay, straw, cattle and other commodities, be and
|
|
|
|
the same is hereby repealed and re enacted so as to
|
|
|
|
read as follows :
|
|
|

|
SEC. 3. That upon the completion and erection of
|
|
|
|
the said scales, the said commissioners, or a majority
|
|
|
|
of them, shall certify said fact to the Governor, who
|
|
|
|
shall thereupon appoint an inspector of hay, straw
|
|
|
|
and cattle for said scales, to hold his office for two
|
|
|

years from the date of his appointment, or until his

successor is appointed ; the Governor, with the ad-
|
|
|
|
vice and consent of the Senate, shall renew said ap-
|
|
|
|
pointment biennially, and it shall be the duty of
said inspector to weigh at said scales all hay, straw,
|
|
|
|
cattle or other commodities there offered to him to
|
|
|
|
be weighed, and he shall be entitled to demand and
|
|
|
|
receive for each and every load of hay or straw
|
|
|
|
weighing thirty hundred pounds and upwards, thir-
|
|
|
|
ty-five cents, and for all loads less one cent per hun-
|
|
|
|
dred pounds, and a like rate per hundred pounds for
|
|
|
