him as Sheriff of Somerset county, and the further

sum of one hundred and seven dollars and three

cents overpaid into the State Treasury by him as

Collector of Somerset county, said overpayments

having been certified to the General Assembly by

the Comptroller and Treasurer of the State, and the

repayment to said Coulbourn of said sums having

been recommended by them.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take

effect from and after the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 16.

AN ACT to adjust and settle finally, by agreement,

all pending controversies between the State of

Maryland and the Northern Central railway com-

pany, by subjecting the franchises and property of

said company within this State to taxation for

State purposes to a certain extent, and by provid-

ing for the payment of a certain indebtedness claim-

ed by the State of Maryland to exist on the part

of said Northern Central railway company to said

State of Maryland, being an act supplementary to

the act of eighteen hundred and fifty-four, chapter

two hundred and fifty, entitled an act to authorize

the consolidation of the Baltimore and Susque-

hanna railroad company with the York and Mary-

land Line railroad company, the York and Cum-

berland rail company, and the Susquehanna rail-

road company, by the name of the Northern Cen-

tral railway company.
