	CHAPTER 116.
	AN ACT to authorize the Mayor and City Council
	of Baltimore to issue its bonds or certificates of
	indebtedness to an amount not exceeding five hun-
	dred thousand dollars, for the purpose of providing
	means for repaving certain streets in said city.
	SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
	bly of Maryland, That the Mayor and City Council
	of Baltimore be and they are hereby authorized to	Authorized

	lars, from time to time as the same may be required,
	payable at such time and bearing such rate of inter-
	est, not exceeding five per centum per annum, as

	provide by ordinance, to be adopted at the present
	session of the City Council of Baltimore, for the ex-
	clusive purpose of defraying the city's portion of
	laying improved and more durable pavements in
	such of the paved streets of the city of Baltimore,
	as the said Mayor and City Council of Baltimore
	may deem necessary ; provided, however, that the
	said bonds or certificates of indebtedness shall not
	be issued until the ordinance, which the said Mayor
	and City Council of Baltimore are hereby author-
