CHAPTER 96.


AN ACT to authorize the Comptroller of the Treas-


ury to adjust and settle with the Belvidere Land


Improvement and Building Association of Balti-


more city, the State's claim for taxes against said


corporation.


WHEREAS the Belvidere Land Improvement and


Buildiog Association of Baltimore city has been as-


sessed in Baltimore county for the years eighteen


hundred and seventy-five, eighteen hundred and


seventy-six and eighteen hundred and seventy-seven,


to the full amount of its assets, and has paid its State


taxes for the year eighteen hundred and seventy five,


amounting to sixty-four dollars and forty cents, to


John Baseman, collector for said county, and of its


State taxes due for the year eighteen hundred and

seventy-six has paid thirty-four dollars and twenty


cents to Jabes Armacost, treasurer and collector of


said county, and has paid the residue of said taxes


for said year, amounting to eighty-four dollars and


fifty-seven cents, to Stephen Barton, sheriff of said


county, and has paid its State taxes for eighteen


hundred and seventy-seven, amounting to one hun-


dred and twenty-three dollars and ninety-eight cents,
to Samuel "W". Worthington, sheriff of said county.


Now, in order to authorize the Comptroller of the


Treasury to accept duplicate receipts of said pay ments


in settlement and discharge of the State claim of taxes


assessed upon his books against said corporation for


the years named, and to adjust and credit his books


and accounts accordingly —


SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly


of Maryland, That the Comptroller of the Treas-


ury be and he is hereby authorized to accept in full
