CHAPTER 89.

AN ACT to authorize the Burgess and Commis-

sioners of Emmittsburg, in Frederick county, to

close a certain alley in said town.

WHEREAS sundry citizens of Emmittsburg, in

Frederick county, have petitioned to the General

Preamble.

Assembly to authorize the Burgess and Commis-

sioners of said town to close an alley therein; there-

fore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-

bly of Maryland, That the Burgess and Commis

sioners of Emmittsburg, in Frederick county, be

and they are hereby authorized, and shall have full

power to provide by ordinance for the closing of an

alley in said town lying immediately east of the

Catholic Church and Cemetery, and being between

the said cemetery and a lot recently bought by the

sisters of charity, to be added to said cemetery,

and running from Green street southward about one

hundred and sixty feet, if in their opinion the public

welfare or convenience will not be incommoded

thereby.
