such approval, and such copies, certified under the great seal, to
be forthwith forwarded to the public printer for his use in print-
ing the laws; and the sum of eight hundred dollars, or so much
thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any
funds in the treasury not otherwise appropriated for the payment
of the persons employed to make said copies, at the rate of ten
cents per hundred words.
ARTICLE LXXVIIIA.
PUBLIC ROADS.

1. Commission f or the investigation
of road construction.
2. Said commission to make neces-
sary appointments of assist-

3. Duty of commission to see that
proper investigation is made
of roads and their improve-
ments.

5. Record of all monies received
and spent to be kept.
6. All monies paid out to be paid
by State treasurer.

1898, ch. 454.
1. The commission established by Article XCI, title Surveyor,
sub-title State Geological and Economic Survey, is hereby
authorized to make provision for the investigation of the ques-
tion of road construction in Maryland.

2. The said commission is hereby authorized to appoint, under
the direction of the superintendent of the survey, such assistants
and other employes as they shall deem necessary, and the said
commission shall also determine the compensation of all persons
employed and may remove them at pleasure.
