186 BALTIMORE COUNTY. [ART. 3.

1880, ch. 841.

38. They may bid at any sale of real estate for State or county
taxes due thereon and costs; and in case the same shall be pur-
chased by them at said sale, on the final ratification of said sale a
deed shall be made by the collector of taxes for Baltimore county
to them, and they shall hold the same for the use of the county.

39. In case said property shall not be redeemed, they shall
make public sale of said real estate to the highest bidder, after
due advertisement in one or more of the newspapers printed in
said county, when it shall seem best to them so to do; and the
proceeds of such sale shall be received by the treasurer of the
county, who shall be authorized, on the full payment of the pur-
chase money, and not before, to execute a good and sufficient
deed to the purchaser; and the money arising from such sale
shall be accounted for by the said treasurer as other public money,
now is or may hereafter be accounted for according to law.

1876, ch. 179.

40. At each general election held in Baltimore county, the
legal voters thereof shall elect by ballot, a treasurer, whose duty
it shall be to receive all monies which may be due the said county
and pay all claims against the same.

1878, ch. 494.

41. The treasurer of Baltimore county shall be the collector
of all State and county taxes for said county which may be
levied by the county commissioners; before entering upon the
duties of his office he shall take an oath before a judge of the
circuit court for said county, faithfully to perform the duties of
the same; he shall execute to the State of Maryland such bond
as is now or may hereafter be required by law, as the collector
of State taxes, in the penal sum of thirty thousand dollars, with
three or more sureties, to be approved by the county commission-
ers; and he shall execute to the said State, for the use of the
county commissioners of Baltimore county, a bond in the penal
sum of forty thousand dollars, with at least three sureties to be
